Srinagar, Sep 28 (KNO): The government Monday said that the drop out ratio at primary and upper primary level has decreased during 2025-26.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the government in a reply to the question tabled by Mehraj Malik in Legislative Assembly said, “Drop out ratio at the Primary level (Class I-V) has declined to 1.1 percent during 2025-26 as compared to 1.6 percent during 2024-25.”
The government also informed the house that the drop out ratio at the Upper Primary level (Class VI-VIIl) has also declined to 2.8 percent during 2025-26 as compared to 3.20 percent during 2024-25.
“Performance of students in JKBOSE examinations has shown significant improvement over the previous academic year by almost 10 percent,” the government said.
Stating the reformative measures taken by School Education Department since 2019, the government informed the house that it introduced the Cluster, School Complex System for optimal utilization of manpower and other resources.
“746 Cluster and School Complexes have been constituted and made functional for sharing the resources within the cluster. The department undertakes Annual Transfer Drives (ATD) and staff rationalization regularly to ensure optimum utilization of available teaching resources,” the government said.
It also informed the house that under NISHTHA, 78,975 Elementary Teachers, 21.926 Secondary Teachers and 40,318 Pre-Primary/Primary Teachers have been trained, as per available departmental figures.—(KNO)
